The Elements of Rhythm, Vol. I

Your journey to discovering the fundamental building blocks of the rhythmic universe starts here.

The Elements of Rhythm, Vol. I, offers a very comprehensive approach to binary rhythm pattern theory that can be used by all musicians and music researchers. It does this by introducing a simple math expression that opens the door to your rhythm exploration.

We apply the formula to calculate the number of possible rhythm patterns for eight levels of beat and beat division.

Then, we use 0's and 1's to represent silence and sound, pairing them in a series of combination tables.

Finally, we re-write those patterns using traditional notation and present them in single music staffs for reading and practice.

Is there an order to rhythm pattern development? Absolutely, and that order is presented in these pages...
